Hi! We're the Newby's!
a little bit about us...
Andrew and I met working together at the Reebok HQ in Massachusetts. After a few years of courting & dating, we had a lovely & romantic wedding in New York the summer of 2014. Prior to our honeymoon, we had never taken a "true" vacation together (weekend trips here and there). So while we were eating and drinking our way through our two week honeymoon in Rome, Athens, Santorini & Mykonos... we realized - this is how we were meant to live. Travel became our passion.
While on our honeymoon we would 'daydream' over a glass of wine saying "how amazing would it be if we could live in Europe?". Well, with a bit of hard work, networking, and a lot of planning & excel sheets - 8 months later we were living in Germany. I will admit, working for a global company made the process 10x easier, but it still was not a breeze.
Now that we are living our 'daydream' we are not going to let it go to waste. It has become our mission to see, taste & experience as many different countries & cultures as possible.

WHERE I CALL HOME:
Long Island, New York (mets fan).
FAVORITE DESTINATIONS:
paris, france / cairo, egypt / biarritz, france / cinque terre, italy / siem reap, cambodia.
BUCKET LIST:
a safari in africa / the northern lights in iceland / cuba / new orleans
TRAVEL NECESSITY:
iPhone (for google maps & pictures), camera (sony DSC-RX100 II)
FUNNIEST EXPAT MOMENT:
sleeping on the airport bench because our keys were in our lost luggage coming home from Mallorca and being woken up by German police.
FAVORITE FOOD:
escargot & macarons in Paris / pimentos de padrone in Barcelona / chipirones in Mallorca (and Kale of course)
WHAT I MISS THE MOST FROM HOME:
whole foods / trader joes / kale / pumpkin spice anything / understanding signs / eavesdropping on people / being sarcastic and people understanding. (and my family & friends of course)

barcelona, spain (for the food, weather & people) / cairo, egypt (for the once in a lifetime experience) / cambodia (for the cultural experience)
BUCKET LIST:
a safari in africa (by 2017) / live in a new country (by 2018)
TRAVEL NECESSITY:
passport, journal, suntan lotion
FUNNIEST EXPAT MOMENT:
firing our german teacher... worse than any break up.
FAVORITE FOOD:
fried calamari anywhere near the ocean / roasted duck in red curry in Thailand.
WHAT I MISS THE MOST FROM HOME:
almond butter / living near the ocean / bourbon whiskey / convenience / family parties
